Kennedy's First Day of 2nd Grade

Kennedy, today was your first day of 2nd grade! I can't believe how fast you are growing up! You have been so excited for this day for several weeks now! Your teacher is Mrs. McNulty and she has been teaching for 8 years. She has two boys and one on the way that is due in January! You think it is so cool that your teacher is pregnant! I am not sure if she will come back to finish teaching the school year after her maternity leave but I pray this will be an easy transition for you and your classmates! I am so glad you will be there to look out for your little sis this year!

All ready for the big day!

We got to school early this morning so we could drop off your school supplies and meet your teacher. We missed Open House because we were at the beach! Mrs. McNulty has taught at HCE the past 2 years but you didn't know her!

Opening your goodie sack!
Laynie and I grocery shopped and ran errands all day and those take forever to make! I knew Brownie Volcano would be just as good! You were so excited! You had a great first day and are all ready for tomorrow! Unlike Camryn, you told me all about your day with great detail and even mimicked the facial expression and hand motions your teacher would do. My favorite of the day: "Momma, I can't wear anything to school that doesn't cover my shoulders! You know my pink gown that just has the little skinny lines on the shoulder? Well, all my shirts and dresses like that I can't wear to school unless I have something over it like a sweater. Mrs. McNulty said if we come dressed to school with our shoulders not covered she will call our mom's and ask for new clothes. She has no idea why this is a rule, she did not make it but this is what the office told her!" Very dramatic you are! I love it! And geez! What is wrong with spaghetti strapped tops on a 2nd grader???

Camryn's First Day Of Kindergarten

Camryn today was your first day of kindergarten! You have been so excited about it all summer and I hope it was all you have been hoping for. You are in the same classroom Kennedy was in but have a different teacher, Mrs. Alisha Ray. She is 24 years old and this is her second year to teach! She is very soft spoken, organized and loves to give hugs! I think you are going to have a great year and are going to learn so much! Your "popcorn" word for the week is "I" and you are learning all about yourself and your classmates. Mrs. Ray calls sight words popcorn words because she wants you to look at them and have them pop in your head like popcorn! We have been working really hard on sight words these past few weeks so you are ahead of the gang! "I" and "look" are your favorite sight words so far! Each week Mrs. Ray sends home Mrs. Ray's Weekly Hoot and it tells us that weeks events, news, themes, popcorn words, and the Hoot of the Week. This week Mrs. Ray is the Hoot of the Week. It is a cute newsletter and I am going to keep them all for you to look back at someday! The past 2 years at preschool I would have to ask tons of questions in order to gather any information about your day. Of course, it was no different today. You volunteer no information and when you do answer questions you don't elaborate! We will keep working on this you crazy girl!

You went to bed at 7:45 last night but I still had to wake you up this morning. You didn't really want to get up so we went to bed even earlier tonight! You had some crazy hair going on this morning!

We missed Open House because we were in Florida. Mrs. Ray had your desk all set up with a little gift for you. You sat right across from Ethan!

You were real reluctant to go into your classroom. Mrs. Ray went over and talked you into coming in!

You and Kennedy wanted to be a "walker." Ya'll walk to Jan Jan's house and I come pick you up in her driveway! You both were so big walking with your backpacks over your shoulders!

I had you and Kennedy a little goodie sack as a surprise. Laynie didn't have one and was trying to get all ya'lls stuff. You bent down and said, "It is ok Laynie, you can have some of my cotton candy!" You are such a little sweetie and are so generous even with your candy!

Mommy made you a special after school snack: brownie volcano, one of your favorites!
Telling Daddy all about your day!

Beach Day 7

As usual we had a great last day at the beach. I wish so bad it wasn't over! The Dennie's left at noon today to head back home so reality set in when I saw them leave. It was kind of sad without them around tonight! We swam at the beach and pool today and then went to Sea Side with the Pennington's for dinner. We have all enjoyed our time with family and friends so much and can't wait until the next vacation. The girls start school Monday so Sunday will be a day of getting ready for Camryn's first day of kindergarten (sniff sniff) and Kennedy's first day of second grade! That makes me sad too! She was the oldest child out of the crew this week and it made me realize how fast she is growing up! I love all of my girls so much and have had the best time with them this week! Our lives will definitely be different Monday morning! Kennedy is still into taking pictures! I love this and Laynie is actually looking at the camera!

As soon as Laynie discovered Daddy was lying down she crawled out of her pool and went to sit on his belly. This was one of her favorite spots!
Camryn is just like her Daddy when it come to relaxing at the beach!
Swimming at the pool after a long morning at the beach!
Sea Side! I got this same pose 2 years ago so will have to compare when we get home!

Checking out the grilled cheese menu. I ordered the 3 cheese and it was fabulous. I love grilled cheese!
The moon was out and the sky was beautiful tonight. The girls let me get one last set of beach pictures!

The Dennie's got snow cones from here a few times and told us how good they were so we gave them a try tonight. Kennedy wanted half chocolate and half green apple (Mmmm!) and Camryn wanted rainbow. They were delicious...even Kennedy's!
Watching The Truman Show on the green. We left a little over halfway through because I still had to pack EVERYTHING! The girls were so disappointed and wanted to know all about the ending! I told them we would watch it one day next week so they could see for themselves!

Laynie swimming!
