11 months

Laynie, you are eleven months old now and full of energy and spunk! You are standing by yourself for longer periods of time now but still won't walk on your own. I know you could do it if you wanted to! You crawl and climb on everything! You love to play in the toilet, open cabinets and pull everything out of them, play in Kennedy and Camryn's room (but you hate to play in your room) play outside, and go on walks. We went to the zoo last week with Camryn's preschool class and you loved it! You wave and say bye bye, say mama and dada, say no no no (never just no, but no no no...you want to be sure and get your point across!) blow your food when it is hot, blow kisses, play pat-a-cake, say your blessing, and call the Hogs. We are having so much fun with you Laynie and love you so much! I am so blessed to be your Mommy! I can't wait to see you grow even more!
Jan Jan got Laynie this ride on car for Christmas. The girls have lots of fun riding her on it and this morning Laynie discovered a new fun trick for it!

Easter Pinata

Aunt Magan and Uncle Aaron brought the girls an Easter pinata! Kennedy was the lucky one to crack it open and then their baskets were soon overflowing with candy! Laynie got her own little basket filled with lots of yummy treats that she is really enjoying!

Lunch With Kennedy

Kennedy loves for anyone to come and eat lunch with her so last week we took her some nuggets and apple dippers from McDonalds. She wanted me to bring Camryn's caterpillar that has turned into a chrysalis so all her friends could see it. They all thought that was really cool!

Mommy's little dishwasher

This girl loves to wash dishes! Hope that love doesn't fade too quickly!

Tubes...Round 2

Camryn got tubes in her ears again on Tuesday. She has had chronic fluid and it has affected her hearing. No nerve damage though so once the fluid is clear she should be back to normal. She would say she "has the flu in her ears!" I guess she couldn't hear me say fluid and thought I was saying flu. It was so funny hearing her tell people that! She was such a trooper and did great! When they brought her out into recovery I was able to hold her. While she was waking up big ol' tears just rolled out of her eyes. She never cried out loud, just silent tears. It made me tear up! A Dr. Pepper from one of her sweet nurses took care of those real quick though! After all the love, attention, gifts, doughnuts, and coke she got that day, I think she would do it all over again if she could. She is such a special girl to so many people!

Waiting!

A glow bug that lights up and changes colors from Aunt Magan!

We told her we would take her to Krispy Kreme after her surgery. She wanted doughnut holes, a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles, and a plain chocolate (and don't forget the hot and ready one you get when you walk in the door!)

Her preschool teacher, Mrs. Shannon, surprised her by coming to her house and bringing her an Easter bucket full of goodies. She was amazed that Mrs. Shannon knew how to get to her house!

Kristen also surprised her and came to the surgery center and brought her a sidewalk chalk making kit! Somehow we didn't managage to get a picture with Gram but she brought her 2 new books!

Resurrection Rolls

Every Thursday night is family night which means no tv and we decide as a family what we want to do together. Tonight I thought it would be fun to make Resurrection Rolls and review the story of Jesus' resurrection with the girls and to remind them why we celebrate Easter. These are so easy to make and are delicious! We ate them all and could have eaten more! I got this recipe from shecooks.org

Ingredients:

1 tube Pillsbury Crescent Rolls (Big and Flakyy)
1/4 cup butter, melted

8 large marshmallows

3 tablespoons sugar mixed with 3 teaspoons of cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Separate crescent rolls (Much easier if you use big an flaky but if you can't find and use the regular size, trim off about a quarter of the marshmallow.)

Give each child a triangle of crescent roll. The pastry represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.

Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus.

Have them dip the marshmallow into the melted butter and roll to coat evenly. This represents the oils of embalming.

Have them dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat. This represents the spices used to anoint His body.

Place the coated marshmallow at the straight end of the crescent roll. Bring the two corners up to the top of the marshmallow.

Roll up (away from you and toward the point) the crescent roll with the marshmallow and seal to make sure the marshmallow is not showing (or it will leak out when baking). This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death.

Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet and place in oven for about 10 minutes. The oven represents the tomb.

Remove from oven and cool slightly. Break open or bite into the rolls and discover that Jesus is no longer there, HE IS RISEN! (The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)

Fun with Anderson on the Trampoline!
